What a weekend, indeed!

How can we (Caring For Troops) thank our local supporters enough, especially the Redmond Rod and Gun Club?

This weekend ended with a bang, really!  Over $2,500 was raised to support our efforts in supporting our deployed troops and their families as the Redmond Rod and Gun Club hosted a competition to benefit CFT and our Troops.

Saturday Pack-Up:  Elected officials, Ben Westlund and Chuck Burley were present.  We welcomed home LCPL Chad Russell home from Iraq and Major Pete Goodrich from Afghanistan. Chad has seen action in Fallujah and Pete helped build the first university ever built in Afghanistan.

Letter from Jerry Lowery, organizer of Sunday's event.

Caring for Troops
Bend, Oregon

Attention: Dan Hulbert and Bob Jeffrey

Dan and Bob,

First let me state that it has been a great pleasure and experience meeting and working with both of you in the weeks leading up to our fundraiser.  You will find enclosed with this letter, a check, in the amount of $2409.  This amount is the total receipts from the February 13th event.

Contained within that amount are the cash winnings of many of the individual shooters that were donated back.  Most shooters donated their entire purse and some collected back their entry fee and then donated back the rest. Notables are:  Fred Grimes $124.70, Gene McKenzie $124.70, Linn Lithgow $45.75, Jay Sproul $45.75, Sterling Hammond $42.35, Thomas Lowery $36.60, Bob Elliott $27.45, Del Jeske $24.05, and Gordon Howell $18.30

Rocky Zollner and his wife, Cindi spent a day and a half handling the preparation and presentation of the bar-b-qued pork roast dinner.  The cost of the meal was $247.72  This was donated by the Redmond Rod and Gun Club.

Rocky Zollner personally collected donations for the event.  Donated by the Union Employees of PGE was $170, Madras Auto Parts, Inc. $75, and Mr. Ron McDonald of McDonald Chevrolet-Ponitac-Buick, Inc., of Madras, Oregon $100.

During the Trapshooting competition a total of 7300 clay targets were thrown. The value of the targets were $420 and that cost was donated by the RR&GC. Cash wages in the amount of $300 were paid to the trap help and this amount was absorbed by the RR&GC.

The amount donated by the RR&GC including targets, the meal, and trap help wages totals $1,052.

In closing may I express the genuine and heartfelt "Thanks" to your organization with wishes of continued success for Caring for Troops.  We pray for the safety of our Troops and feel honored in joining your effort.

Sincerely,

Jerry Lowery
